Do not immerse the chain directly in strong acid and strong alkaline cleaners such as diesel, gasoline, kerosene, WD-40, and degreaser, because the inner ring bearing of the chain is injected with high-viscosity oil, once washed off After that, it will make the inner ring dry, no matter how much low-viscosity chain oil is added afterward, it will be nothing to make up for it.
Recommended cleaning method
Hot soapy water, hand sanitizer, a discarded toothbrush or a slightly harder brush can also be used, and you can wash it directly with water. The cleaning effect is not very good, and it needs to be dried after cleaning, otherwise it will rust.
Special chain cleaners are generally imported products, with good cleaning effect and good lubricating effect. Professional car shops sell them, but the price is relatively expensive, and Taobao also sells them. Those with better economic foundations can consider them.
Metal powder, find a larger container, take a spoonful of it and rinse it with boiling water, remove the chain, put it in the water and clean it with a harder brush.
Advantages: It can easily clean the oil on the chain, and generally does not clean the butter in the inner ring, it is not irritating, and it does not hurt the hands. It is often used by the masters of mechanical work to wash their hands. Security is strong. You can get it at larger hardware stores.
Disadvantages: Since the auxiliary is water, the chain must be dried or dried after cleaning, which takes a long time.
Using metal powder to clean the chain is my usual cleaning method. Personally, I feel that it works better. I would recommend it to all riders. For riders who need to remove the chain frequently for cleaning, it is recommended to install a magic buckle to save time and effort.
Be sure to lubricate the chain after each cleaning, wiping, or solvent cleaning, and make sure the chain is dry before lubricating. First infiltrate the lubricating oil into the bearing parts of the chain, then allow it to thicken or dry. This can really lubricate the parts of the chain that are prone to wear (the two joints on both sides). A good lube feels like water at first and penetrates easily, but becomes sticky or dry over time, providing long-lasting lubrication.
After lubricating, use a dry cloth to wipe the excess oil on the chain to avoid the adhesion of dirt and dust. Before re-installing the chain, remember to clean the interconnection of the chain to ensure that no dirt remains. After the chain is cleaned, it is also necessary to apply some lubricating oil on the inside and outside of the connecting shaft when assembling the magic buckle.
